Pentre Mawr Country House

New luxury canvas lodges with hot-tubs for Spring 2009

This is what we call camping

In spring 2009 we are opening our new canvas lodges.  Pentre Mawr is the first place in the UK to take camping to such a luxurious level, with oak floors, full bathrooms with freestanding baths and showers, super king size leather beds, fully heated and each having a deck with it's own hot tub. And of course most of all the use of the main house, swimming pool and restaurant for  our sumptuous food

Graham and Bre  opened Pentre Mawr House (Graham's family home of four hundred years) as a country house two years ago.  The houses mirrors Sychnant Pass in many ways. It has a lovely romantic feel to it...set as it is in near 200 acres of meadows , park and woodland.  All the little extras that Sychnant has become know for are also apparent in Pentre but it is run on a much softer line.  There is a pool in the wall garden which is a great suntrap.   Dinner is served conservatory or when there is a large party travelling together  in the formal dining room, bring back the style of a longed for era.  There are two lovely sittingrooms all with comfy sofas and portraits of Graham's ancestors (some are quite a dour lot!!)  The hidden walled garden is a lovely place to sit and read or just relax and smell the roses.

The View Across the park

In keeping with the tradition at Sychnant Pass House all the bedrooms are named after T. S. Elliot's Cat's from Old Possums book of Practical cats.  We're not really mad just a little eccentric!!

We have always welcomed Children at Sychnant but because of the outdoor pool and old chapel and dairy which while grade 2 listed are quite dangerous we have been advised that it's not a great place to have children.

Pets are most welcome in the gardens (approx three acres) but will need to be on leads if walking the farm land particularly where there are farm animals

A picture paints a thousand words

Directions

From Denbigh take the Llandyrnog turn off and proceed to the village of Llandyrnog.  At the little roundabout turn left for Bodfari.  About 50 yds take  a fork to left and proceed down the country lane, through a little cross roads and past large red brick barns.  Pentre Mawr can be found of the left hand side just after the barns.
